SWANAconnect is a project dedicated to assisting our SWANA (Southwest Asian North Afrikan) refugee communities in Greece.
Currently, there is a lack of SWANA and POC representation among volunteers and aid groups in the region. SWANAconnect aims to facilitate and guide SWANA Diaspora who are interested in traveling to the region to volunteer and connect with on the ground efforts in Greece.
Additionally, this initiative aims to assist in providing direct monetary assistance to refugees, for those who are interesting in contributing financially, but can't physically volunteer. This is open to both SWANA and non-SWANA communities. This project was co-founded by Pouneh Behin and Christina Nesheiwat and is currently managed collaboratively by community organizers, SWANA-LA and the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM).
Although the SWANAconnect Project is focused on efforts in Greece, the team is also involved in supporting our community members in places like Los Angeles and Orange County by working with local refugee support organizations and offering financial supporting to newly-arrived refugees.
